Hawaiʻi’s Our Keiki, Our ‘Ohana, Our Future project aims to develop our State’s comprehensive early childhood (EC) system. We believe supporting early learning, development, health, family support and engagement will offer children, from birth to five, the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge essential to meeting their full potential.
Hawaiʻi plans to implement the Our Keiki, Our ʻOhana, Our Future project through six primary activities.
The following activities will enable Hawaiʻi to address challenges by re-examining the needs of the early childhood sector in light of dramatic changes and lessons learned through previous grants and the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Update the Comprehensive Statewide Birth - 5 Needs Assessment;
Update the Hawaiʻi Early Childhood State Plan;
Maximize Parent and Family Engagement in the Birth - 5 System;
Support the Birth - 5 Workforce and Disseminate Best Practices;
Support Program Quality Improvement; and
Provide Subgrants to Enhance Quality and Expand Access to Existing and New Programs.
More details and implementation progress of the Our Keiki, Our ʻOhana, Our Future project activites may be viewed on the PDG B-5 Grant Dashboard.
